For those of you who follow my blog you probably remember when I posted about my daughters trip to California.Well shes there now.Her flight got in around 11:00 last night.Here is her view from the room at the Hyatt Hotel.She loves the ocean but since shes gotten older she like the pool much better.

Im relaxed now that shes there. I have 5 days to enjoy relaxation til she flies back home LOL.

I havent decided if the love I have for journaling is for the little journals or journaling itself lol.I have many.I love this one,colorful,romantic.Makes you feel like writing.Do you like jotting down special things in your life?For me I do skip alot,but I keep it fairly updated.Recently I read in a magazine about a woman's new idea on how to journal.See if you like this.She said to just jot down one important thing for a day.One thing you would Love to remember.Instead of writing on and on.For me I plan on getting a yellow rose bush this spring,so when the first bloom comes I would jot down.. First yellow rose today. Since I have pink,red,orange bushes and no yellow that would be something I would want to remember..Do you journal?

I love baskets in any shape or form just about.I bought this last year at Michaels.I loved it because of the shape actually in person it looks like a bee hive from a distance.The black metal that goes around the basket and then makes the handle is so adorable.Here it is just plain and simple.

I also bought this adorable bunch of flowers last year at Michaels.It has brown butterflies all over the bouquet.

Here they are both together,the butterflies you cant see to well because I didnt spread out the bunch of flowers.I love spring flowers and Easter is coming soon as well.I love Easter with its soft colors and symbols of life.We celebrate the start of lent in the Greek Orthodox faith on monday.What a special holiday it is.

A while back I posted my daughter Katie's cat Dex.Well this is him recently.Isnt he a cutie? Katie and I want to ask all of you to comment if you know anything about why a cat would all of a sudden stop using the cat box.We have tried everything we could of online(web) advice.From changing the litter,changing the size of the box,hiding it in a secluded place,and seeing if he had a urinary tract infection which he does not.She is so sad about this.She doesnt want to take him back to the Humane Society.But she has no choice but to restrict him now in a cage.If that doesnt help well she will have to get her boyfriend to return him.They just bought the house and needless to say the cat has to go in the litter box.We would so appreciate any advice on what to do,and have you ever had this happen with one of your cats.Thanks all!

By the way I just wanted to add he is an INDOOR cat totally.

I wanted to get Kit a big fluffy bed.Hes sleeping on my bed on the banner lol.Im not much for animals on beds.So I would love to get him a cozy comfy one like these.I saw these four that caught my eye.

Actually this is my oldest daughter and shes not so little anymore.Shes 34 now.Still full of adventure.She has a trip planned in about one more week way out to California alone.Now she isnt going to be there for a week alone.She has some female business friends she is meeting there but still.This one has always been a bit antsy ha.Still trying out new adventures.Shes hoping to move out there if all goes well on her trip.She has degrees in business to pursue.Oh us poor mommys, ha.Or maybe its just me huh?;)

In searching through blogger I often see amazing posts or well written posts with no comments at all.I even see on many blogs post after post of no comments.We all know what we like right?We all know what we enjoy,I myself the same.This bothers me a bit when people, I included,cant seem to get out of their "ComfortZones"By that I mean check out some blogs where you have to think a bit,where the blog isnt always pretty things or your words arent always the same old same old words.Like its so pretty or I like that.Try something different,I know you might be thinking .."well why dont you if thats how you feel",lol.I have done it,I have been completely surprised and also I have enjoyed them as well.I guess what Im trying to say is say hello to something a bit different,to someone who has taken the time and put some thoughts together and really looks for some comments.We all love comments,thats what kinda keeps us blogging whether we admit it or not.So try to visit those kind of blogs which have just a bit of change from the ordinary.I guess I care about people,and those who take the time to have something to say should be recognized.I dont mean everyone out there,ones with unchristian like attitudes or actions,or simply useless talk to talk blogs.As I said this is just a thought I have had for a bit just thought I would share.

Well finally I got some photos of the snow. Todays little snowfall..I missed it a bit.I do want spring to come dont get me wrong but when you live on the east coast and dont see to much snow in a winter its rare.Today we got a dusting that just covered trees and grass.This is my Butterfly bush..which will take on a big transformation in a few months.;)

The weather here is awesome today.I walked forever it seemed and I even pulled weeds too,lol.Cleaned up the yard a bit.Im shocked I think my Hosta in my yard is coming up.I see little shoots of real bright green.Im hoping that it stops growing for a bit its really early for that to show.Unlike my mothers crocus and daffodils which have come up and look so pretty.Are we going to have a winter here on the east coast??Its ok with me,that being said,I hope it doesnt affect the summertime weather.

Isnt this flower just so pretty?I was browsing the web,came across this Snowdrop.I have never heard of or seen such a pretty flower blooming in the wintertime.I so cant wait til the spring when the planting begins.This just reminded me it wont be too long.About 2 and a half months.Not to bad.....Im all ready.

Way back when a little girl came into the world all smiles.It was really her time to shine.Her parents, loving and kind, were happy to see a baby girl especially her father.What they didnt know was they were a gift to her and in return she cherishs them to this day.Soon to follow were 2 brothers.Both the dearest brothers ever.Her oldest brother and she would play endlessly in the sandbox and on the swings.Playing house underneath the huge grapevine growing in the backyard that was held up with a huge trelis.Their time was precious,their friends were many.Back then everyone played,enjoyed,never complained,it seemed as if the days were endless.

That same little girl had a lovely childhood.Friends, big family,and good memories cherished forever.Animals oh yes there were a few.Little turtles,chick and duck one Easter,dog outside( a must for her mother) even some kittens over the years.A bit of saddness came when she moved away from all of her close friends,to another side of town where she would go to a Junior High without them.Making all new friends, but still in touch but just a bit with all of her special friends.Off to High School where we all finally joined together again,but things were different now.As we had gotten older and moved on with other destinations,friends etc.That year followed quickly with Graduation,college and marriage.Soon after her first daughter was born.A bit of deja vu for her as her husband wanted so much a daughter.Raised with all brothers 4 of them, and he the youngest he cherished thoughts of a little girl.

The years flew by so fast she now had 2 daughters.But sadness filled hearts when her husband died very young of esophageal cancer.Words couldnt express the pain her girls felt.She was afraid,alone,very scared.As she passed through that very sad time within a year she was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer.A less invasive type,she was lucky.Its been 9 years,her prayers were answered,"cancer free" is what she wanted to hear.Those heavy crosses were the beginning of a strong,productive,happy life now for her.Shes happier now than ever before.I know some of you thinking how can it be?Its so very true that trials she had to overcome have made her see the world in a different light.Positive,productive,happy.Her life is truly at its best now.....couldnt be any better.

I had to try this out for myself.Betsy over @My Five Men posted hers a week ago and her blog friend did as well.So I just jumped in to try it out.I wanted to see how I would do,how I would describe my life..just a little something different.

The story of the Hoodie.......lol

This is Eli my westie in his new sweater....hoodie.I decided this year to get him something to keep him warm when he goes outside in the cold months.Even though I let his fur grow out during the winter months and their coats are real hard and thick he does NOT like going out.It makes it a bit difficult to get him out there.So I went to the Pet Shop picked up a not so nice sweater with a price tag over 20 dollars.I wasnt a bit pleased with that.I try and keep things such as these at a minimum cost...translated wayyy to much money to spend.So I got an idea for a toddler hoodie,lol.I went to Family Bargin and looked at the 2 toddler hoodies.Which for that size is about 30 pounds or so.Eli weighs about 31 pounds.I sorted through all of the styles LOL,and found this one.Light blue with footballs how cute.Only five dollars!!!!So I brought it home and tried it on.Put his legs into the arm slots, LOL.Zipped it up and here it is.Isnt he to cute???? Ha! The moral to this story is never spend alot for something used so little when you can get something much nicer and at a much lower price.~~He loves compliments in this sweater so feel free to leave some;)

I really do love mondays.I work most mondays as well so its not because Im off.I just think that Mondays are a kind of "get back into the swing of things" kind of day.The weekend flys by and monday seems to stop everything and slows it all down a bit.Its time to collect your thoughts for the new week,make a list(if your like me) of what to do,or what absolutley I need to do. What day of the week is a favorite of yours?Maybe you heart mondays as well.

Its a gorgeous day here on the east coast.Nothing at all like a typical January day. I will take it with no complaints.Im enjoying walking and getting outside period .I have even checked out my flower gardens to get an idea what I may want to plant this year.Im doing a little rough draft on paper and checking out some "new " things for this years garden.This is just bliss for me,anyone else thinking of spring gardens yet?

Meet Clara.Shes a little West Highland White Terrier (Westie) As you know I own one of these dogs.I found this photo amazing because my westie will NOT go into the snow.I have to shovel a little path or clear the sidewalk for him to do anything lol.This dog is just 4 months old also,so Im wondering if now,since the photo was taken 3 years ago, if she still loves the snow ha.But we still love them even if they dont.

I love this photo.The piano and the patten leather shoes,the cup.I looked at this and felt like it was taken when I was young.Such nice memories spun into this photo.I love remembering back to when I was young and celebrated Christmas with family, friends......special memories,special time of year.Theres something about Christmas as we looked at it when we were small.Everything was truly a family affair.I remember my brother and I saving quarters together,then when the time came to shop we split the amount saved in half.We shopped for my mother and father together.Smelling the perfumes for my mother and the after shaves(Old Spice) for my dad lol.Then it was on to the slippers and just plan looking at all the beauty of the season.We would watch my dad put the lights on the tree,no wonder they always looked nice it took him forever it seemed lol.Then all of us would jump in to decorate.The song of choice for me was Oh Christmas tree.We sang it alot in grade school and I came home and sang it near the tree.My mother jokes with me til this day and asks if everyone wants to hear me sing that song ha. Last but not least going to church was so special.Lighting of the candles and keeping them lit til we got into the car afterwards.Christos is the reason for this season,give to him time in the midst of all the confusion,and laughter,cookies, presents.Look what he has given to us!

This is my little Santa tree in my kitchen.It stands 3 ft tall and has a cute burlap base to it.I found out this year that the santa ornaments were catching my eye.So im starting a collection,adding some more next year.Im a bit disappointed with this picture,I was in a hurry taking it and the lighting is off,but nevertheless Im loving it sitting in my kitchen.Warm and cheery.What warms your kitchen up this Christmas season?Besides the cookies baking;) lol

I was browsing Pinterest and found these.Arent they to cute for Christmas.They are called Santa Hat brownies.Thought I would share this with all of you just incase, you never know,when you might want to put these out for that jolly guy himself;)Or of course add them to your list of cookies your baking.Have a sweet day.

Santa Hat Brownie Bites

1 box brownie mix
24 small strawberries
2 cups white chocolate chips

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease 1 mini-muffin pan
- Prepare brownie mix according to box's instructions and fill cavities 3/4 of the way full
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until cake tester comes out clean
- Let brownies cool and use this time to hull and clean the strawberries
- Once cool, place strawberries upside down onto brownie bites
- Melt white chocolate in a double boiler and transfer into a piping bag

Today there is tree trimming,cookie baking,dog walking,helping my youngest kitty mend from a cold..This I find strange as both my cats are indoor cats.But neverthless,hes a bit down so he needs some special kitty hugs today.You know they say that the type of mind set you have during an illness can determine the outcome.I believe that.In certain situations I think that is true.So kitty will be kept very happy with his toys, his favorite past time viewing the birds from his window oh and of course some special treats he loves.That would be wheat thins,lol.Yes he loves them broken up into wee pieces.

Isnt it nice to spend time on a weekend or weekday during this time of year and watch an old Christmas movie?If your like me I cherish that time,the nostalgia,the wintery feel with hot chocolate,cozy slippers and a warm afghan around me.This is the best time of the year.I love alot of Christmas movies,like White Christmas, and the original Scrooge.But I will have to say my absolute favorite is this one above.I loved this story.I could watch it over and over and I have lol.

I do love getting out some old things for Christmas time.Now she isnt old old but shes been with the family for a long while.I collected porcelain dolls in the past,but since the girls are grown I no longer collect them.Her dress and hat with tan fur and burgandy velour make her a perfect doll for the season dont you think?She is also musical,she doesnt play christmas song but plays Somewhere my Love.Her name means "to soothe" in greek.She also wears buttoned up boots,I didnt get in the shot.So do you have that something special you love getting out during the Christmas season?Love to hear from you!

When I start to bake some cookies around this time of year I always look for something new.I like adding,each year, a new type of cookie or cookies to my Christmas menu.These are Australian Christmas cookies.

Im a huge fan of gingerbread.I always made the houses when my girls were young.These gingerbread men are fun.

These are the ever famous Pfeffernusse cookies.

These are linzer cookies.I made them a few times.

Yummy Gingersnaps.Loveee!

Oh so yummy double chocolate with topped with peppermint.

Candy cane kisses.Another flavor of the season I love is peppermint.

How good do these sound.....Cinnamon Cranberry swirls.These are on my list for this year.

Oh so good,Orange butter cookies with glaze.YUM!

What is better than chocolate with peppermint? For me, nothing,lol.I make a few cookies like this for the holidays but I do enjoy my greek cookies probably the best.My mom and I do those together,and then we break the batches in half for her then for me.Then when I have friends over or the girls come we usually indulge in them first .. thats why I need backup cookies like these shown ha!

Theres nothing better,to me,than giving something you have made with your own hands.A touch of love for sure.

Meet Dexter (nic named Dex).My youngest daughter Katie and her boyfriend Dan's new addition to their new house.Hes just about over with his little cold and is doing great.Hes four years old,declawed and fixed so they felt that this would be the better way to go instead of a young kitten.They both work so he fits in nicely to their schedule too.

Here you can see him full size, in his own bedroom too,lol.He looks like my cat in the banner upper left.Only he is alot younger.

Hes sleeping quietly under the afghan.Hes a very pleasant guy,I think she did a good job in picking a sweet one.Im happy he has a nice new home..makes me smile.

I must admit when I see fresh natural faces such as these Im overjoyed.The soft and lovliness of a bare look to a face is so pretty.The naked lips I love.Just a soft beige in a gloss is so nice and a touch of a bare foundation compliments everything.I cant believe there were times for me,and maybe you as well, we overindulged in makeup.Eyes are still over done,blush always turned deeper when you exercised or got overheated.Lipstick or gloss Red was big for a while,why I cant seem to understand LOL.A womans face is to be enjoyed.....naturally.Fresh and clean.Something about seeing a woman like this....its the way it should be.Your comments please.

Most of you know already how I adore birds.These are just soooooo cute for the Christmas tree.No Im not decorating yet,but when I do these are just precious.These are felted and glitter put on them here and there.

So sweet.Iam actually a bird nut.I love them on pillows,I love art with whimsy birds.little necklaces with a delicate bird on.

How colorful are these for the holidays.Once you find a pattern they look so easy to make.Of course you can buy them like this,but the fun part is making them for the holiday tree or whatever you enjoy.

I remember before I hit the age of 50 hearing about empty nest syndrome.Reading about it and wondering.Now that I am beyond 50 and approaching a new birthday on Thanksgiving, I find that its actually better than the words make it sound to be.Of course we shed tears when our kids leave the home(nest) but if they remain in the area as mine do life isnt that bad.Some may feel helpless and hopeless.But you have to look at it this way.Your on your own,for the first time in this life.You can do anything your heart desires...of course within reason. Its all time for YOU.Time to let go,diffcult but it can be done.Smothering kids when they become an adult on their own isnt the way to go let them know they have freedom but also let them know you are always there for them.Put time onto yourself.Focus and look at what you need,and want.This is the time for it...let yourself accept it.If your in my situation you can meet someone of the opposite sex and have fulfillment,which we all know we do need.Maybe even find some new friends,not to get rid of the old you know the saying: "one is silver and the other is gold" its true.But find friends maybe in your own situation,who have raised their kids and are on their own maybe with different things they do than you yourself do.A way of learning new things.Change yourself...look for fulfilling things to do hobbies,working for your favorite charities,churches,helping people in anyway you can.yes I can honestly say,"this just isnt that bad"its all in what your mind says it is.My mind says I really do feel much younger than my age tells me...and that isnt so bad at all. ~~~Your input please.I cant wait to hear.~~

I cherish vintage photos of family as most of you do Im sure.This is my Greek Grandparents from my mothers side.This is when they were first married in Greece.Then they came over to the States and raised a family of 17,four sets of twins within that 17.We lived close to them growing up.Lots of fond memories I have.Needless to say the holidays were the best...all of us squeezed inside a small house.Some in the dining room some in the kitchen and some in the living room.But we enjoyed every moment.I feel I have been truly blessed to have had such a lovely family growing up.Thats what life is about right?Loving memories, one of lifes most precious gifts.I hope you have such precious memories as well. Today was our first snowfall on the east coast.It was a very wet snow.We got about 4 inches...other places got 10 or more.I guess we were lucky lol.I did feel much like Christmas time today....writing ideas down on paper for what Im going to buy.What Im going to make as far as cookies etc.My mother does most of the cooking for Christmas time but I help her.

I guess snow does have a purpose.Makes us all warm and cozy planning the Christmas season together.Blessings!

Isnt it beautiful..I took this at about 7:30 this morning.I saw pink coming through my white curtains I looked out then grabbed the camera.Tommorrow night in my part of the world is Halloween.We always celebrated it the last Thursday of the month.Im not sure why but its been that way since I can remember.I will be working so I will miss the craziness ha!Actually over the past few years its not as nice because of the older kids in big crowds come around and it does take away from the little kids coming out.Have a safe halloween,whenever your haunting begins ;)

This is my husband Patrick.Today would of been his 57th Birthday.He died almost 10 years ago of Esophageal Cancer.
This post is a memory of sorts but more a message to all of you who past through my blog.Maybe you dont follow,maybe you dont blog,but you just like reading.We all have a "thing" so to speek about Drs. We would rather put off something rather than go see about it. If its heart palpitations or pain in the stomach or bad headaches or maybe even worse.You need to know its better to get it checked out than just let it ride.If its longer than 2 days go and get it checked.Esophageal cancer really doesnt have any warning signs until its to late.My husband had bouts with the flu,but it wasnt the typical flu,lots of coughing and real bad coughs.As you can see he was a smoker,but he did give his body a break on and off.Last thing he said to me when we were disgusing his health,he couldnt swallow at all.This is the advanced stage of his type of cancer.We both went to the Drs...he was diagnosed in early December and died April 1.So what Im saying here is we all are afraid of the unknown,but its best to find out,then our minds clear and focused a bit to get on with life or to follow with treatments for cancer.Pancreatic cancer is so on the rise now,I think even more so than Breast cancer.I think in my postition of being a nurse, I would fail to totally take care of my obligations if by not at least getting anyone of you to visit a Dr. when in doubt of something thats making you worry alot.Take this as a step in your mindset to be a bit more positive, and strong...its not easy for sure I know this.

A Day Spent With Family.......

Today was a gorgeous day.A nice Autumn day for family to get together.I missed that a bit, summer had been quite busy for me.Come and meet my dear mother.

This is my mom...very tired looking now after making dinner for all of us. Listening to my one brother talk on and on HA!.She will be 80 coming up soon....My father will be 82.

This is what we had along with gorgeous roasted chicken.This is greek lemon rice soup.All of the froth is beated egg whites on top and lemon.Inside the rice and chicken broth with more lemon juice.I know it probably looks funny to most of you who havent tasted it.Actually it looks like soap suds right?? lol.

We had a special time and with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming soon,we will have an even better time together,Lots of greek food and friends and more family.Even little maddy came with my brother,she loved the smell..... she couldnt get enough chicken lol.

Family is the best thing on earth,I hope you have wonderful times with yours as well!

In the world thats all around us,in the mirror we can see.

A reflection glowing brightly that portrays a "you" and "me".

We may shine a little brighter; we may glow a little less.

But in truth and love eternal...

Diamonds are those God does Bless.

So just be a little diamond even though you see your a bit rough.

An enjoy lifes journey even though it may seem tough.You may meet a few more diamonds and like you,they too will find..as a diamond,called to be one,diamonds just a state of mind.
